Sweet and Sour Pork

Ingredients: Recipe:

1/2 teaspoon salt                                                                    

Dash of black pepper   1. Cook rice: Bring 2cups water to a boil in a 1 gallon pot.

1/4 teaspoon ground gingerPour in rice. Stir once. Cover & bring to a boil. 

1 pound round steak  Slightly lower heat and cook covered for 12-15 minutes.

1 can (20ounces) pineapple chunksRemove from heat.

1/4 cup vinegar 2. Brown Beef: Slice steak into thin strips. Brown beef in a large skillet.

1/4 cup packed brown sugar 3. In a large bowl, mix salt ginger, pepper, vinegar, brown sugar, & soy sauce. 

2 tablespoons soy sauceDrain and save the juice from the pineapple can. Add water to pineapple juice

1 cup sliced carrots to measure 1 liquid cup.           

1 medium green bell pepper, julienned Add to sauce mixture. 

1 medium red bell pepper, julienned 4. Pour mixture over beef in skillet and add carrots.

1 tablespoon cornstarch  5. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 5-8 minutes or until carrots

2 tablespoons cold water  are crisp-tender.

1 dry cup long  grain white rice  6. Stir in bell peppers and pineapple; Cover and simmer 5 minutes longer or until

2 liquid cups water   peppers are crisp-tender. 

     7. Combine cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of water until smooth. Stir into skillet

                           Bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.

                8. Serve over rice.

             9. Yield: 4-6 servings.
